Duplicate Directors - Rules and Guidelines
The following guidelines apply for all Duplicate Directors and Duplicate Events. These are being established to avoid inconsistencies in the way events are run by various directors.
1) The tournament should start 10 minutes after the event room opens. This allows people time to get in there, find partners, chit-chat, and so forth. 2) Booted players are not to be removed until they are gone at least 2 minutes. Chronic booting is not an excuse to remove a player, please exercise patience in removal of a player. A player suffering a few internet issues and slowing an event down is not going to cause the destruction of the planet. If a round needs to be extended to save the event, then do it. The same extension rules should apply to all players, at all times. 3) Players with the same IP address can play together. If players want to cheat, they're going to cheat, in today's internet age it is very easy to just tether to a cellular connection to come in from a different IP. If cheating becomes evident, take note of the event, save the webpage and send it in. Do not, under any circumstance, make a cheating accusation as a director. 4) Some players will sign up with a partners, others will just take what they can get. If players are blocking seats and disrupting the event, they can be unseated and asked to relocate to a different table. 5) Muting and kicking are not to be used. If a Sysop is available, they can be asked to come in. These commands are in place for extreme circumstances, and if it is found to be abused, your duplicate director status will be removed. 6) Do not give more than a single infraction to a player who leaves early, and this should only be done if there is all-out evidence a player left with the intention of quitting early. An internet problem is not an acceptable reason for an infraction, nor is a behavior problem. 7) When events are about to close, there is no need to kick anyone from the channel. This does not help the event end, the users will be auto-removed from the channel once the event shuts down. Like mentioned before, kick is pretty much a never-to-be-used feature. 8) A Duplicate Director is a traffic cop, just keeping the event train on the tracks. You should be nearly invisible to the players if executed properly. |
